Building a tank is not that much money just a ton of work.

 

not enough red to be aog's thats why im going with devils armour the ring of red is getting thicker and it looks just like devils armour i have seen

 

How does the birds nest like the halide light.I have 2X250 over my 55 gal and they just don't like the high light.Thats the only SPS i can't keep.

 

those 2 zoo's are close in color.I think armor of godds have a black ring that has a small peice missing on one side.I would have to turn my lights back on the check.And thats a no no

 

both of my sps looked totaly fine before the trip and when i got back
the birdsnest was totaly dead and the other sps was half dead

so i really didn't have them long enough to tell you

im guessing it was from the temp sometimes gets up to 84 in this hot weather
but idk



devils armour is the red ring with the red speckles around the inside of the ring so im going with that because thats just what it looks like
and every day the red has come out more so we will see.

 

Ya they don't like that high heat.How close do you have your light to the water.I had to put a few 2X4 under the corner legs just to get some air movement under their.Do you have the viper light

 

no i have a 70w metal halide pendant from fishneedit.com

mine is hanging from the ceiling and is about 4 inches above the tank

 

Have you tryed moving the light higher above the tank.That may help.

 

actually the lighting hasnt affected the tank at all temp wise

the heat issue was just from weather. we were gone for 2 days and we dont have ac that automatically turns on. we have a swamp cooler and you have to turn it on off. it usually doesn't get past 80-81 during the day when the swamp cooler is running

 

Im trying to upgrade my filter, and I really like yours. Im trying to mod the 2nd section where the bio balls will normally be. I am new to this whole salt water stuff, so whats a fuge? and live rock rubble?
