does your 14 have the 3 chambers?

if so i think youre supposed to put the skimmer on the far right chamber just next to the over flow. if you want i can take a pic of mine to show ya.

definately take JOHNFRITTS advice on filter get rid of the bioballs and use rubble with carbon and filter pads get rid of the biocube manufacture filter pad it only retricts flow to the last chamber. use the far right chamber for you skimmer and heater maybe.

JOHNFRITTS i gotta a question for you. why would you want to run the water above the max level?

as far as i know unless you are running an actual minifuge that center chamber needs water to drip to the bottom of the chamber if you fill above max then you are also raising the water in the filter chamber. the drip action is needed to re nutrify your water.

don't know if you know but looking at your pics it looks like the water return nozzle is pointed down. you may want to point the nozzle to the surface to rattle water around the surface this will aslo help keep the surface clean of any ugly film that may build up if water stands still.

by the way i love my biocube. hope you enjoy yours just as much. but like me you probably will get the bug and want something BIGGER. cheers

when you say CARBON are you talking about the manufacturer slip in filter?

during the cycle your okay to use that. but if you want to use the skimmer and run the filtration properly you will need to place the skimmer in the far right chamber.

try as much as possible to manage your water level to the fill line. VERY IMPORTANT. our water needs to drip down to the bottom of the chamber. if you fill all the chambers with water you allow water to sit inbetween the bioballs or rubble and build bad algae and bacteria thus increasing pollutants for the tank. letting the drip motion happent will flush the junk out and let the water filter through the system.

don't mean to be a NAG but many have hated their biocube because of a "non-efficient filtration"

so should i run the skimmer in the first and the rubble in the second chamber and keep it like that?
