Running a little Dymax IQ5 reef pico at moment but wanted something else to stick a fish in or two so here is what I went for.

First job was to ditch ceramic media, bubble tube, air pump add an extra 1 way valve just to be sure then do a leak test.

Here's a pic in it's final location between the infamous chairs. Moved the Dymax elsewhere in the house.

Got it salted this afternoon, brought up to temp then added a bag of sand after adding black vinyl backing. Can hardly notice the powerhead (Koralia 1600) and heater aswell so pretty chuffed with that.

Will be adding a load of live rock at the weekend and that will be the only filtration along with plenty of water changes, adding a ball of chaeto behind the rockwork is also on the agenda to help with exporting nutrients. This will be a FOWLR, probably 1 x Ocellaris and 1 x Watchman Goby. Cleaner Shrimp with 3 x Sexy Shrimp. Pom Pom Crab in time and a small bunch of snails/hermits haven't decided yet.

The tank looks awesome. I love the unique shape...acrylic, I assume? I see you have a decent stocking list...how many gallons is the tank?

To answer my last question after a quick Google search...30 litres = 8 gallons. :)

I think I want one. Kind of a lot of money for it though (approx. 300 USD).

What does it have for lighting?

Thanks Mkizla, Seano I'm addicted to nice tanks and picos!! Yeah it's acrylic, lighting is absolutely a no go-er for corals it has 3 tiny white leds with 1 tiny blue, light unit has full cycles available to set so will be perfect for a FOWLR setup. If I wanted corals in the future my first plan would be to place a Maxspect Mazarra unit over the opening and remove existing light unit.

Nice! We gave some of these away last year I think - I love the BiOrb tanks - cool style. They present a challenge to us reefers filtration-wise unless you water change a lot. What is your plan there?

Filtration plan is as follows: I'll be down to 25 litres after displacement, so I'll begin with 33% water changes every fortnight, if that isn't enough I'll make them weekly. Ball of chaeto will be dropped in the back to help export nutrients, and may even see if i can stick in a bag of purigen somewhere and make something out of egg crate to have it on behind rock. If that fails then I'll need to back to the drawing board. Lovely tanks but looking forward to the challenge. No NPS corals for me to begin with may consider some down the line though, need to see how I get on with the basics with this tank.
