I just wanted to let everyone know about my blog that I have started on my tank. I will also talk about other things in the marine hobby and on my facebook page I will provide links to the latest reefs around the world news and also any new hobby news.

Please take a look. I hope I can share my experiences and educate as I go through my tanks progression.

    Thanks

It was fun looking at the progress. I like how you built a little room in the garage just for the tank and maintenance.

It must get really hot in there though. Have you thought about running a fan to pull air out of the tank room to go outside?

The 20000k halides look much better than the old 10Ks. I bet that helped with corals coloring up in your tank as well?

Do you still run 10Ks on your frag tank for good growth?

The room gets up to about 90 degrees on a 104 degree day outside but it usually stays around 82... I have it tied into the main AC of the house. it will come down to a cool 78 at night though. The chiller takes care of keeping the tank at 79 steady and so far I havent seen any fluctuation in my power bill. As far as venting... No need really, the humidity isnt that bad. I have a small bathroom fan that vents into the attic if need be but I have not turned it on since putting it in.

Yes the new lights make a ton of difference. Not only did I replace the bulbs but when I changed ballast they were 10 times brighter. Amazing what good equipment will do compaired to old get you by stuff.

The Frag tank runs a 14k bulb to not wash out the corals as they are growing. I use it for more personal than profit so as long as they are growing at a good pace and keeping color I am fine with it. I mainly use it for the 5 dollar rack or the 10 dollar rack at my LFS and put the single heads and stuff there for spot feeding until they get large enough to make it to the display.
