This is my build today. It looked a lot better yesterday.
But, I figure the best way to get some advice and encouragement is to post pics on our darkest day.

Tank's been up since just before Thanksgiving.

I bought an eclipse 30 gal setup off CL and very soon after replaced the lights which meant I had to replace the entire hood and filter as they are all in one.
I got CoraLife Lunar Aqualights and they were the best investment, I love them.

The tank isn't sumped, I'm running a 300gph protein skimmer, and an extra powerhead. As of a couple days ago I had a young tank raised clown, an old trade in Scooter Blenny, watchman Goby along with my corals and 50-60lbs live rock.

Ammonia spiked, treated it with Am Guard...Clown's dead, scooter's dead and the corals arent happy. So, here's my nightmare lol.

Please be careful with the suction cup on that powerhead! I had one pop off one day at work. It was a great reenactment of the 1930 dustbowl~ not good!
    Sorry for the losses

What caused your ammonia spike?? Did something die?

I'd get a WC done asap, and good luck to you

Thank you. Yes the elusive scooter I had died a few days ago and I didnt think anything of not seeing him since he hides in the rock a lot.
I was probably overfeeding a bit and I did a 20% change today and will do a 10 tomorrow then test again.

    Thanks for the kind wishes

I responded on your other thread, I think something else is going on. I don't think a small fish should spike your amm like that, and if your shrimp lived, it shouldn't have killed your clown, IMO. what are your other param's

To be honest, I have seen shrimp and other inverts survive several crashes, ammonia spikes that have killed all other livestock. I had a cleaner shrimp survive a cucumber nuke that decimated my entire 55 gallon tank a few years ago. Shrimp are much more tolerant of stuff like this than we give them credit for. The things that kill inverts are ph swings, huge temp swings, rapid changes in salinity, etc.... I'm not saying ammonia/nitrite/nitrate aren't deadly but I believe they are more tolerant than fish are for some strange reason.

Good tip! Water change asap & figure out exactly why you had an Ammonia spike. Last thing you want is this happening again..... and again. ;)

Sorry for your loss, hopefully we can help get this resolved and prevent.

thanks, you guys are great. The 2 that died did come from the same LPS and they were the first fish I'd ever bought from there so who knows?
    Watchman Goby came from diff LPS and is ok. The plan is to do another 10% wc tomorrow and take it in to be tested. {{sending good vibes to my brain coral}}

Thanks 3reef people, your wisdom is exceeded only by your kind nature!!
