My chiller died today

It just keeps shutting off after 5 seconds.
Any ideas on helping it?
I have a fan on the tank right now but my temp is 82. Im running LEDs so lights is not an issue. My refugium is a different story, I have only one 18 watt bulb on right now.
What do you recommend for a replacement?

Are you asking about a replacement chiller or something other than a chiller?

 

Replacement as the one I have will not keep running

 

I ordered one, it was as much as I paid for my entire setup.
Hope it lasts long enough to make it worthwhile!

 

What does it actually do? Does it stay powered on but just stop running? Does the power on it just die?

 

The compressor comes on for about 5 - 20 seconds, then shuts off. The fan keeps running. Then it comes back on again for a few seconds. Sounds like low freon to me.
It is an older 1/4 HP that is no longer made.

 

I got my new chiller today, it is great! Way quieter than my boat anchor. It has about the same foot print but is taller than the old one. The extra height must be the silencer part.
Cooled my tank 3 degrees in about 15 minutes. Glad I went with the 1/4 and not the 1/10.

 

I'm no expert on the subject by any means, but sounds to nelike the thermostat in the unit might have gone bad. if this is the case, it's probably not all that uncommon, probably easy to remove/replace and can likely get the replacement part from the manufacturer.
