    wow very helpful!!!

Thank you for that. This entire thread has helped me tremendously.

My only doubt before ordering would be how many fixtures to put over my tank. I have a 45 g .... 36x12x24.

Would two D120 lights from evergrow be too much for my tank? I am just starting and looking to do SPS, softies and maybe LPS.

Also, what are the advantages of having green in the LED setup? Pure aesthetics?

Any advice would be appreciated. And what an awesome thread!

You could get away with one, especially if it has a canopy. Add another later on if you feel it isn't enough.

Green, mostly aesthetic. Too many would overpower the entire fixture, same with red.

Reefbreeders new value fixture (the 96w one) is based off the Nova A4 from Evergrow, and it has a nice mixture of leds. I ran that light for months and absolutely loved it. I still use it as my main light, but I rewired the internals and made it into a DIY Cree light.

If you don't mind I had 1 more question, I'm about to order.... are the reds aesthetic as well? Do they help with the coral pop? Is it noticeable? I'm having a debate with my father over whether it's necessary.

How is it a hijack? Are we not talking about 120w Chinese fixtures?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Trust me no apologies needed. :)

    Disregard the hijack comment.

Sometimes you will get more specific details if you start a thread with the information you seek in the title, but feel free to post here.

Yes, they pop red in coral very well. I would do 2-4 per fixture, and mix in red-orange 630nm reds with the 660nm. Also, 420nm violet is very beneficial, so add a lot.

OMG I am so happy I found this thread! I've been wanting to get bigger tank, but dreaded spending $1000 on lights. THANK YOU!
