Drill all of your holes for 1 inch bulkheads a 1.3/4 is tight but works well and a 1. 7/8 is a ta larger then I'd want but will do also. You can bushing the holes I always use the F.M threaded B/H myself. Just screw a 1x3/4 bushing in and you got . I'd use dual pumps myself..

What is the benefits to use dual pumps versus using one strong pump?
I cant drill the tank, its all ready set up, so basically has to be over the top.

I use the dual pump configuration as Tangster talked about so that if I am gone for any length of time and one pump fails or gets clogged the other one is still suppling water flow. I was hesitant at first when he suggested it but it gives me piece of mind now when I am away for a few days at a time. Drilling is the best way to go on the tank, it will look a lot better.

Sure you can drill the tank if you can get to the areas you want to drill and if the sides are not tempered if its acrylic then there is not problem. I drilled many tanks using a plunger LOL Last one I did was 500 gals and I lost maybe 1 maybe 2 gallons of water But you have to know its not tempered.. As for two pumps why have a spare tire ? I have seen so many reefs go south all because a seal or impeller failed at 3 AM on a Sunday morning or 11:30 PM X-mas eve LOL I have duals and a spare out in the garage just in case!!!!

Everything is sounding much more comforting!!
WOW, five minutes ago, i whent into a state of mind that im not gonna do the closeloop, ima skip that and go with the tunzes and a controller. But i started to imagine again how the tank will look with them powerheads in my tank, and the cords and all, and the idea whant away.
Ill tell you the truth, this closeloop is asking for more work than i expected, but whats the fun part of this hobby if there no challenge?

Ima call my freind that has the equipment to drill tanks, and see if he whant to do it. Ima problably drain the tank.
Were do i need my holes?
Okay, the tank is on its own stand, and only the back wall can be used to drill and stuff, i dont whant to drill the sides because there in view of everybody that goes into my house.
    I have a standard 125 reefready tank, 72"x18"x22".
Im guessing ima have to drop the water level half way, them move the tank to make space to place the drill on the tank, and then start drilling. BUT FIRST I GOTTA SEE IF MY GLASS IS TMEPERED!!!!!!!
How can i check that? I guess ill google it!

There usually is a sticker saying if its tempered. If not then i think theres a way of knowing with polarized glasses or something like that . Im going to try find the page.
