Ok, first off Im new to the whole aquarium thing. its not even my tank nor fish but ths hobby is just to interesting to ignore!! So the beginning of last week I noticed my clown fish (Rufus) had a rather large bumb on his right side. It looked like a bule on a human head after running into a door. So today i wake up to find him on his side!!!! I freaked out and immediately grabbed the net to get him out...but he started miving. He's breathing fine, just not swimming right, He gets jolt of energy every ten minutes or so and moves a good 7 inches but slams into the tank bottom again and again. Just this past hour I've noticed little white splotches on his body and fins...no slime build up tho, so i ruled out Clownfish disease and its definately not velvet disease either. Anyhelp is appreciated guys....
Hes about 8-9 years old I would say and an absolutely adorable little guy :(

    Maroon Clownfish btw

Do you check for Nitrites, Nitrates, Ammonia, Calcium, Alkalinity, Salinity. What's the tank temp? How old is the tank?

Why the alarm about the temp? My tanks get to 80-82 everyday and have for all these years, that isn't a problem. Most reefs reach 84-86. The bump sounds like in internal parasite.

Unfortunately he passed away last night. Being the wierdo I am I took him into my friend Yale's shop (Biggest aquarium junkie I ever met!!). He looked at it, and said that it looks like he's been bittin, because under all the discoloration, he was bleedind ever so slighlty.... he said he might got in a quarrel with another fish and tore it open, or he was bitten. So, Im spending today looking at my tank......... I appreciate the help:-/
