Common to see two clowns have spats , considering you've have the one in the tank by it's self. ( its already laid down it's territory and see's the other as a threat/moving in on it's turf )
It can go both ways really , the smaller could infact be beaten up by the other enough to kill it.
Or with some luck they'll calm down ,im assuming you have an anemone ? ( that will help )

if there larger then they could both be female, i purposly got mine small, and one about a 1/4 inch bigger then the other, and they paired up immediatly, it would help to know the size, and whether or not you have an anemone

I bought my 2 clowns at the same time, from the same tank (with 6-5 clownfish in it) at the lfs. One was 1-1/4", the other 1-1/2", and they were sometimes swimming with each other. I decided on getting them being the brightest colored and hopefully paired. Mine never fight and are usually around each other.

Turn down the lights and slap on some "Barry White". Just kidding :)

Just because you got two clowns of different size doesn't necessarily mean that they will become Mr & Mrs. If it happens that's great! On the other hand one may end up being killed by the other (as stated previously).

It's a crap shoot really. Good luck though and I hope they work things out and become a pair.

On average with breeding any clown fish it takes 6 to 10 months before they will pair off remember one has to change its ways :) hell just after a week you still can't be-sure the new fish will even acclimate to your system totally and live 6 months. Find a Book by Joyce Wilkerson and read it if you want to breed clowns . I am not one to offer up Books or articles But Joyce wrote the book on breeding clowns .
I can honestly tell you from knowing her she was/is the leading authority on this subject. She gave me my first breeding pair yrs ago.. I'd say she was the first to breed them in Captivity all knowledge gained on the hobby level , I can't recall the books titles now But I'm sure you and search her name and clown fish and get a million hits .. I think te first book was simple Called Clownfish ? But a good solid book simple book with what you need to know and not a lot of B/S wordy stuff and fluff to make herself try to sound extra smart :) Although she really is..

LOL, perhaps some white wine, and NO not that cheap tickle pink crap in the
chiller section right next to the keg looking beer cans :laughy:
But seriously i hope it works out for ya.
Rather see them be buddy's than fight and one die from being beaten up.
