Wow I go down to Florida and this is what happens. :( That fish was a really good one. She was kind of ditsy...a "blonde" of sorts. But a good one. Any ideas of a good fish to fill in the vacancy? I'm not sure if we want to try another CB or not.

As for the dog, cutting off his tail was my first suggestions :p He'd probably like it better than having to wear that satelite dish all day long. Oh well, my mom wants the tail to stay just because it's fluffy. And he wags it 24/7.

We're waiting on the wound culture, to see if it's some weird organism that needs a different antibiotic. It will hopefully be back this week. He goes back Tuesday and we'll make a final decision. Sooooo frustrating.

We're also trying to figure what to replace the CB with. She was a good one - never touched the corals.

We're also still working on a cover - probably going back to the egg crate idea.

Sorry about the CB, I really like them. And I hope the dry fuzzy fish (Someone called it a "dog"?) pulls through.

Anyways, egg crate is nice for a top, but I've lost a medium sized diamond goby through it already and am looking for ways to prevent a repeat performance. The window screen idea really only works if you drape it over the lights, otherwise it will block as much as 50% of your light, and seeing how much we spend on lights, that seems counter productive.

anyways, I'll keep an eye on this thread, let us know what anti-jumping cover you come up with.

you dont have to drape it grey , use velcro to attach it to the side of the light canopy. use a section for the back and 1 or 2 for the front.

Wow I didnt know you could cut egg crate that easy. Last time I cut some I did it on a 10hp sliding table saw. Sorry to hear about your CB. I think you should get a flame angel.

I'm liking the flame angel idea. And as for eggcrate, I was thinking taking two sheets and overlapping them, similar to what Otty did to his overflow. Where one eggcrate fills the gaps in the other, making the overall holes roughly 1/4 of their original size. I could cut this to fit our bowfront top, and maybe put a handle on it for easy removal. It would be for night time only.

I am with divott. Look into something else other than eggcrate. I personally have had two occasions of fish jumping right through it.
