If he is still eating, definitely don't euthanize. If he stops eating, then putting him in the freezer might be the kindest thing.

However, try the medication inwall suggested. Also, like someone else said, you can set up a temporary hospital tank in a rubbermaid tub. I did that before and it worked fine. You just have to do little water changes often to keep the water from getting polluted. And include an air stone for oxygen, etc. Then you could treat him with more potent medications.

It looks like something bacterial to me, but not positive. I would try an antibiotic, if you use the temporary hospital tank.

You can also use Melafix in your DT. It won't hurt anything, but it doesn't always work either. It's an "all natural" broad spectrum antibiotic, so it might not work on whatever your fish has. But it could be worth a shot.

I'm not suggesting it as an alternative to treatment, I'm suggesting it as an alternative to flushing.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

Much better ways to do the deed than flushing, like clove oil or anything done very quickly. Freezing is a slow painful death unfortunately IMO. Each individual cells basically explodes as the water forms crystals with the tissue.

didn't say you were, just supporting that flushing is not the answer.

I heard freezing is a good way - their body just slows down and they go to "sleep."

I'll look into this, but if it isn't, good to know!

Thanks everyone and my alternative to helping him is not flushing him. Please understand this. A lot of people have been saying things in regards to that and if i had no intentions of helping my CB then I would have never asked for help and just flushed him.

I appreciate the ideas and plan on trying a few. Thanks for the support from those who honestly have been supportive.
