I check my credit card statement online several times a week so that if any "erroneous" charges are made, I'm aware of it almost immediately.

The only time I had my account hacked was years ago when I used to use my debit card for online purchases. Guess what I don't do anymore :D

i have thought of changing my online orders to debit, but my mom said if my accoutn was to get hacked again, it would be a huge mess, worse than the credit card

No they just credit it back while they investigate. The biggest hasle for me is resetting up all my autopay accounts.

    It will be.

My bank did not so my checks were bouncing left and right. I also did not have access to my money via my debit card while they did an investigation.
When the investigation was complete, I had to get a new debit card to replace the one that was hacked. Until all was said and done, my account was only available to me if I went to the bank and did my transactions via the teller. Of course, I didn't have to do that because the thieves had taken all of the money out of my checking account so there was no money to be had.

hearing all these horror stories of people having tons of money stolen. I am sooooo glad that my credit card was so high and almost maxed out on limit. My person did two orders on the same site, 1 didn't go through because it was over my credit card limit and one did. So im so glad my tank kinda saved me in a way of having to deal with a huge mess, i have a $1000 limit on my account, so if i had it all paid off i would of been a PITA to get it all cleared up with my bank.

And ive been trying to get it down because theres still some things that i need to order online for my tank, because i havent found any of it at the LFS so now im on hold on getting those things until i get a new credit card and get my credit card paid off :(

It's easier to just not use my debit card to make online purchases :D

Again, this happened almost 20 years ago. For all I know, my bank's policies have changed. I suppose I should look into it.

They probably handle it in a different way these days. It's happened to me a few times. I don't really worry about it cuz I know I don't have to pay it. It however could be a big deal if your getting ready to leave for vacation or something like that. They gave me a choice of new card through the mail or go to the bank and get a new one right there. :)
