After playing around with some placement and flow I can't believe how much micro life is in the tank. TONS of pods, sponges, asterina and brittle stars. Really cool stuff, im a lil blown away at how quickly it is establishing. Currently have the neon green algae showing up but it is already diminishing and being overtaken by coraline growth.

Project fuge-bucket is off the ground and running! The surge is on an indefinite hiatus, too many issues to work around and unless I can figure it out the downsides just aren't worth it.

Anybody have firsthand experience with the Tunze waveboxes?

Just tried to snap a shot and the camera battery is dead :p Charging it up now, should have one up before bed.

Tank has been up and cycled for around 6 weeks and has thus far been amazingly stable.

Its pretty simple, though. Its just a 5g home depot bucket with fed from a quiet one pump drawing from the display tank. The feed just hangs over the edge and has a 1/2" ball valve inline. A 100w 6500k spiral bulb in a cheapo clip on fixture lights it, and a piece of 1" PVC through the bucket with a 90* elbow form a simple drain that runs back down via pipe to the display tank. The bucket just has a chunk of LR, about 5" of sand and a big ball of chaeto in it now.

The whole concept was to have a secondary fuge that pods could thrive in with a simple ride back down to the tank.

The big brown/green coral on the left side is a neon Hydnophora, but it doesnt show particularly well under my lighting. The right side is mostly dominated by a number of different zoa colonies. I have been fragging them down and translating them around the tank as they grow out to help spur growth.

I caught my emerald crab munching coral!
Did some damage to my bigger green tip birdsnest and brown acropora before I caught the bugger. He is now in the mantis fuge, wonder how long he lasts :p

As promised, pictures of the bucket-fuge(tm)! The extra line you see is to make priming easier and so when my huge DIY media reactor is finished I can just pop it in.

Snapped a couple pictures today, just because :) Heading out in a bit to pick up a couple new corals. Have a 5-6" green/neon green encrusting monti, a 3-4" ORA green stylophora colony and a blue tip staghorn acropora colony inbound...will update with more pictures when they are in the tank.

Yellow Watchman Goby near the den he shares with my tiger pistol. They heard my complaints and moved right to the front by my squamossa(and the one Maxima happier in the sand) clams :)
