Thanks for the kind words. The screen is working well but the floating downstream side is stopping some of the flow when the algae forms. So far it doesn't seem to be affecting the growth but my theory on the weight of the algae forcing the screen down does not seem to be holding true.Since it seems that submergance on the upstream side is working I may just try to lower the downstream side a little. I have a great idea on mounting the screen but haven't got the material to do so yet.I will update this thread when I have it completed but it should work fantastic and eliminate any channeling of the water under the screen.

P.S. George recently sold Whale's Rib to Joe Flanigan!!I almost cried when I heard the news however he has not changed anything and the food is still excellent. He would be a fool to mess with perfection.MMMM Whale juice is the bomb!!!;D
And yes they just completed an overhaul of the pier.;)

Thanks for the note. I'll keep watching. Let me know if you change your lamp but the cfl seem to doing a good job.

Sad about the rib but I do have fond memories of the Flannigan's in Boca after getting off work at the restaurant late at night. You by chance familiar with Chez Porkys in Pompano?

    Thanks John.Stay tuned.

    My tank is looking great!!!!!

I have been having some startup issues with the bulb but other then that it seems to work great and the wattage seems adequate.I do remember Porky's not sure if it is still there.

Figured I would update my progress. The ATS is working very well.My Cyano has virtually dissapeared from my DT and my glass stays clean for 5 days.A dramatic improvement.Another added benefit is the pods and unexpectedly bristle worms.I just cleaned a heavy deposit of algaes from the screen and it was loaded.Ifound at least 30 pods and 12 bristle worms living on the screen. Some of the Bristles were almost 4 inches in length.;)
The benefits of this type of setup are very apparent. I just replaced my screen with a different type.I had some small sections on the screen where algae would grow and then fall off so I obviously did not rough it up evenly. My new screen is VERY rough so this should no longer be a problem.I will take progressive shots again so you can see just how fast algae populates my screen.

Very interesting and kudos on the ingenuity! I'm also having problems with small cyano patches in the DT and haven't been able to keep them at bay. They're just in low flow zones, and not sure I can adjust the powerheadas anymore. This looks like it might be a good fix!

Are you able to recover the pods/worms or are they going out with the cyano/algae? I could easily put this in my current fuge section, but wouldn't want to lose the pod population.

    Thanks.

Thanks! Not sure how many bristleworms can be saved and I didn't want to try to tell you the truth.I did in fact rescue several pods mostly amphipods.I use tank water to clean the screen and do not clean the entire thing.I always leave a small patch of HA to keep the algae from having to start over every time. This also leaves a small section to herd the pods.LOL

Did you find an alternate screen material?
