So after speaking with Greg Carroll and shooting him a pic of mine, he seems to think that it is an Acropora Solitaryensis and, to be honest, I think he is right. I was looking at pics of those after he broke my heart and the growth pattern is very similar. If anyone knows anything at all about this coral, your input would be great. I'm talking ANYTHING. If your LFS has them, how much are they? If you have one, how do you like it? What kind of colors are they getting? I have been able to find jack about this coral but apparently, it's pretty rare.

Most "efflos" you find on the market are mislabeled. Cherrycorals.com has a Solitaryensis for $60 for a pretty good sized chunk. Looks like you got a pretty good cut of the growth of a massive colony, generally the tips/ends are the colorful part and the rest is kind of bland.... like the large colonies in your reference link.

My LFS has a large one too that I have been considering getting a piece of. Its a nice plating type of coral, somewhat uncommon but I wouldn't really say they are rare (I don't think there is a huge demand for them honesty because of their lack of color compared to other corals as they mature). Also as it matures you will find out that anything underneath it will become deprived of light ;)
