so i got a favia and i am not sure what is going on. but to me it seems happy and healthy gut every now and then part of the skeleton show then it dissapears. i have had it for about a month. i know that is not good for the skeleton show. it still has no tentacles coming out but it does eat. i will post water params later tommorow not home right now. last i checked everything was good like three days ago. 0 nitrate 0 nitrite 8.2 ph cant remeber ak and and a little phosphate cant remeber exact numbers. thanks for the input.

In my experience (limited) I bought a damaged favia that showed the skeleton in a few spots - It has rebounded very well and shows it's feeders immediately once the lights are out. Not sure how you are feeding it with no signs of it coming out.
This is what I did placed in on the bottom of the tank - just before lights out basted it with a little (very little) zooplakten - put it in moderate flow.
Make sure it is not in a place debris will collect on it.
Also keep in mind of you Cal levels - it will effect favia's and brain corals first.

Mine, when it's not puffed up, will show the skeleton on edge where it's growing, not on any part that has already grown. Does that make sense? I could be totally wrong, but on mine it seems that the it's building skeleton on that one edge to make another enclosed "eye", and the "skin" takes a while to catch up.

    Is yours on an edge?

Oh, and mine will eat without having the tentacles extended. If I put something on or near its mouth it will eat it.

that is how mine eats cuase i can watch it take it in. but every once in awhile it is in the center just a small part tike a pin head size of the skeleton showing i do have some on the edges. i will have to get a cal test i did not think i needed to worry about it yet but i will check. my levels are the same as stated above but with no phosphate and my salanity is 1.023-1.024. i cant get a good picture of it.
