MY favia desintegrating?

ive been looking at my purple favia and it seems that out of no where it has this dust looking things and when its blown away by the powerhead there is a hole type thing on the brain...

my favia has reduced in size... can someone help me out in here.. idk whats going on. everything else is doing fine. This had been happening way before my new lights.

i had moved him to a lower spot and my diamond goby would throw sand on top of it.. from then on i noticed the problem because i would dust it every now and then from the sand he would put on top. ( it wasnt that much sand.. just a few grains here and there)
later on i saw a little hair algae growing on one little corner of it.( still there but its been the same size ever since i saw it)

then when i got my new lights i moved it to a high spot to the lights and where it would get more flow in hopes it would get better. I havent seen any results but its been just a few days.

help would be appreciated.

It is probably from the gobie throwing sand, most likely bacteria from the sand. Do an iodine dip to kill the bacteria.

 

where can i find iodine?
any home products i can use? or do i have to buy this somewhere?

Go to a drug store and get tincture of iodine, or Lugol's solution from a LFS.

 

so ill go to the pharmacy tomorrow and ask for " tincture of iodine" and they will know what im talking about right?

ill see if the lfs has Lugol's solution too

 

I've used lugols as a dip, just make sure to follow the directions as it is a strong antibiotic.
