my filter water pump cause overheating ????

    my filter water pump (inside water) cause overheating can a powerhead really affect temperature >?????
    what to do to take it outside the tank while keep it running ,as i know powerheads must be submerged while operating ????

    A little more information might be helpful. Like type of pump and filter and size of tank.

    30 gal tank ... powerhead of its top filter ...
