My firefish is DEAD!

thanks im really not in a good mood, and i cant find the body of the melanurus wrasse that i placed in the tank yesterday either, i figured he was dead put him in just to make sure he wasnt faking it but i now think he truley was dead and cant find it so probably at him too

thanks and yea this is the worst week ever, and im trying my best to work out a good aquascape that im happy with but its just not happening im horrible with aquascaping and my works are really hard to work around

well if its any help. which it probly wont be, everything that enters this hobby suffers from 100% mortality, cant get around that.. worst week ever? if this is the worst that happens to you, you doing pretty good..

 

yea this is the worst that has ever happened, i knew something was going to happens soon just because everything seemed to be going along a bit too easy for a sw noob

and i didnt find anys gins of a mantis when rearanging my rock still cant get a good rockscape but im going to leave it for now, im going to look up o how to do the jar trick to try to catch the mantis

 

so after i changed around the rocks i seriously just heard that clicking noise that i heard a few nights ago!

 

Wouldn't a mantis go after the super slow crabs and snails before trying to catch a lighting fast little fidgity firefish? Are there any crushed snail or hermit shells lying around. Missing any inverts? If so I would say you probably have a mantis. Otherwise I might be looking at off params or stress factors maybe. Possibly contaminated water. Lysol spray or something that might have made it into the tank. The firefish and chromi were most likely eaten different because a chromi is all stomach, a firefish not so much. Just my thoughts, sorry for the loss

i had noticed empty shells but i figured that it was probably from m blue legged hermits fighting after one another for the shells, i tested my parameters a week ago and ammonia nitrite and nitrate were all 0 i want to test again but i think readings wil be a little off since i just stirred eveyrthing up a little bit

 

yea and the noise came from right around the area where i found my firefish i really didnt move the rocks around that much just kind of flipped them around a bit

would a thawed out piece of silver sides work, so you think if i took like a coke or water bottle or something like that and put a few pieces of silver sides in there i might catch the mantis, also would the fish be able to weigh down the bottle so it wont float away
