My firefish is DEAD!

    Not all clicking is from mantis or pistol shrimp. Routinely on the forum you'll see posts like this and a decent amount of the time it was not a shrimp. Snails trying to get other snails off themselves do it... a number of things can do it.

    I riddle you this. If the mantis killed it, why would it still be clicking and not eating?

    it could of been in an egg then finally hatched... im not sure on how long that takes for them to go through there cycle.

    They sure are. More common then mantis IME.

    It's highly unlikely as they have a larval stage, one that IIRC is prolonged. Most larva don't survive in aquaria with out specific feeds and conditions being applied.

    is it a bobby worm??? i think thats what they are called? and yeah i dont know alot about mantis shrimp. it was just a thought.

    Oh PC sorry for your horrible losses lately. I really hope you track down the issue..I kinda liked that little guy...try turning every light off(tank and room) for a bit of time then go in slow with a dim light and have a snoop around..thats how I found 2 pain in the butt crabs(inverted soda bottle worked to catch those guys)..I bid you good luck..
