not a chance its a mantis if ur hearing clicking it would be a smasher .. it would clear your cuc out and u'd have a pile of smashed shells outside of its den before it would concider eating your fish

A healthy "appearing" fish and a truly healthy fish are two different things IMO. I don't think there are very many hobbyists generally that are qualified to actually make a serious/accurate judgement on a fish's health.

They are just like humans in that they can carry parasites long term with no external signs, they can have heart attacks suddenly, internal organ failure, etc.

Sometimes fish die, especially going through the trials and tribulations of getting from the tropical oceans to our tanks. Not trying to say stop looking for a mantis but if nothing shows up don't be too surprised.

Also linking your chromis deaths with this one is very suspect if you ask me, you have to keep these incidents completely separate in your mind because there very likely were two separate root causes for them.

Again, sorry to hear about your fish problems, I've lost fish recently too and it always sucks but don't get too hung up on it or jump to conclusions. Do what you can to ensure it doesn't happen again and move on with your tank.
