so just some cut up pieces from a plastic coat hanger would work as dowels between the rocks?

foreverfishy it actually took me a long time to find a sticker i wanted to put on my truck and i stumbled upon this at at west marine and it was the only one there like it. ive never seen it anywhere yet i did a quick google search to see if i could find one for you but nothing came up. so it might have been an old sticker they put out and it was the last one?

Need a bigger tank. A 45 is too small for both of those.

Pushing them down into the sand doesnt mean your rocks are secure. It just means there is sand under the rocks to shift, settle and/or be dug out. A good technique is add rock first then funnel the sand in around with a piece of pvc pipe.

Must your rocks be tied/glued, nope. Its just a good precuation for the sake of your fish and glass.

    updated scape

took your advice and zip tied a cpl of the rocks that could be ziptied and rescaped while i was at it with some new inspiration there are a cpl of rocks that cant be ziptied so i will have to get some epoxy on them but as for now it is as stable as it can be (will post more pics after it clears up and when light arrives today)

    received my lights

Got done early at work tonight and my lights arrived while i was there. 36" odyssea 4 bulb t5's 2 10k and 2 atinic blue. The tank looks so good underneath the lighting. The 2 pictures of the puple stuff on the rock is that coralline algae?

i like the set up, nice and clean for a nano...the purple looks like coralline..

when those lights need to be replaced, i would suggest ATI bubs

I'm gunna have to agree with khowst on this. Definitely not even close for a grouper. Those are some big powerful fish. Dragon wrasse you could pull off for awhile.. Until it morph's or whatever you wanna call it. I've seen some pretty big ones, they look nothing like they do when they're young. I have a 40 breeder, you'd be much happier with some smaller, easier fish.

I like the lights. It's crazy how much a difference they make. Definitely look into those ATI bulbs saintsfan mentioned. If you think your bulbs are bright now, the ATI's will take it to a whole other level. I have a before and after pic on my thread I think.. But anyways, it's looking good! I'm interested to see what ya end up doing with the tank.
