No responses on test kit? I took my water back to LFS today to see where it was at and the readings came back at PH 8.2, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 0. I still think im going to wait another week or so to make sure that it doesnt spike again, and i still have diatoms on the rocks. Should i wait till their all gone before adding fish?

I really like the red sea test kits. I haven't used the ones for nitrate and such but I use the reef foundation one for calcium, alkalinity and magnesium and it's so much easier to use! BRS sells them and the nice thing is once you're out of stuff you can just get the refill kit which is way cheaper than buying the whole kit. Red Sea Test Kits - English

i bought a red sea test kit from my LFS today and i checked my own lvls again Salinity 1.023-1.024, Ph 8.0, Ammonia 0, Nitrites .10, Nitrates 10. Im going to be bringing the water to them also to recheck. But they have a pair of Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish one misbared ?sp? for $32 each that look very healthy and playful, should i give it another week or go ahead and get them? Right now in tank i have 7 turbo snails and 2 blue legged hermits

This is just my opinion but this is precisely what I have decided to do and maybe you'll agree with my line of thinking.

I too, wanted a "special" clown....something like a pair of black occ, snowflakes, etc. but since my tank is new in the grand scheme of it all, I decided to go with (2) plain jane occ. to start off. This way, if my tank takes a nose-dive, I'm not flushing (no pun intended) money down the drain. Once I prove to myself that I can properly care for them, I will feel much more comfortable with an "upgrade" to a more rare breed/version.

i do agree with you pastey, the only others that they have were true percula which was $28 and a skunk clown. I had them verify my water parameters and they came up with the same except nitrites were 0 on there test kit. So i bit the bullet and bought 2 of the black & whites they were very happy and healthy looking. Only time will tell how they will do but they are eating very good and exploring the tank now

Day 2 of my clowfish's lives with me. They ate a nice breakfast today trying to figure out what they will eat so i started with pellets and they ate a cpl each dint really like them to much, then switched to mysis and they dont seem to like it at all. They like brine shrimp alot but i read that i shouldnt feed them brine exclusively. Also i dont think its ich but i noticed it looks like they have some white spots or white slime on some of there black parts i figured it was just from there host anemone they had at the FS or just in there coloration i tried to get a pic but they wont stay still long enough for a picture. It doesnt seem to be on theres fins. Any ideas?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Just watch them closely.

When feeding mix the foods together. After awhile they mistakenly gobble down some mysis and love it. If you can add some garlic or HUFA or selcon to their food that would be a good idea as well. They like cyclops as well.

Congrats on the new clowns. I have B/W as well and for the most part a very hardy clownfish.
