My first anemone

Wow. That's a pretty big anemone. I have to say that I have no idea what is coming of the amemone's foot. All in all though, the flesh looks healthy to me so it doesn't seem to be rotting or melting. Hopefully, if it is an injury, it will heal itself shortly. Do you feed phytoplankton to your tank? If you don't, you might want to start as the anemone can feed on that until it's ready for more solid foods.

 

I think thats sand on the foot. I would leave your anemone alone. It's going to move around alot until its It looks healthy. Good Luck.

 

I'm terribly sorry to say that's not sand. That stuff is comming out of the inside of the anemone's foot. Where you see that brain or intesting looking stuff, especially on the left side of the image, it is torn/cut/ripped open there. Nearly every tear is along where the column and pedal disc fuse/meet togather. I can certainly guarentee what your seeing is comming from the inside of this poor guy

 

Take pictures and send it to the store. They might of pulled it of a rock.

I suggested to the kind woman at the store (Fosters and Smith) that I felt that is exactly what happened (she was very sympathetic and polite). I questioned if they were captive bred, as I hoped to God they were, they unfortunately aren't. That should have been asked by me prior to the purchase, I'm just as guilty as them.

So now some person removed an animal from the wild and the chance for any clown to host it and it's now possibly dead for no excusable reason. I truly feel either that individual, or an employee of F&S put to the very early demise of this poor animal. The ramifications of all of this makes me very upset.......................

Needless to say I'm still going to try to save this animal. The plan is to give it the night and see if it is progressing. If the wounds are still open such as they are, I will take the anemone to a sterile environment and try to delicately seal the wounds with a medical grade "super glue".

I would suggest that you take it slow and do not try to seal the wounds unless you have some experience with that sort of thing. The less you handle him, the better his chances of recovery.

 

I would give it a couple of days, they can recover. Let him find a space and see what happens.

Reef_lover made a good point, never ever pull the anemone off attached rock.

 

its a good lookin anenome, i think it will be fine, like everyone said give it a few days, dont feed him solid foods just yet, let him find a spot and see what happens.

PLEASE DONT GLUE HIM TOGETHER. lol

TIP* if he starts movin around and finds a place to hide in the back of the tank (unseen) just point a power head at him to get him movin somewhere more visible. GOOD LUCK

 

This is a great way to make an anemone move but I wouldn't try it until you've had the animal for a few weeks. Last thing you want to do while it's settling down is stress it out

 

The tears are even worse this morning. It's starting to melt and the anemone is still face planted on the substrate. I know that pedal disc tears are pretty lethal for them and this one has multiple. White mucus is comming out of it too. I doubt it will live the day.
