I also want to add that I think I know what caused the nipping. See, it's a 46 bowfront and I leave the back glass alone and the sides I almost never clean. Well, normally there was always some green algea that grew on either side of the tank. The rusty angel was constantly grazing on that algea. About a month ago I bought 25 margarita snails. Within 2 weeks the sides of the tank are like 90% clean of algea infact the coralline has starting growing like crazy now because of the clean glass. Well, I think thats why he starting going after the leather coral because there was a lack of other stuff for him to nip at. I wish there was some way to know for sure but i'm willing to bet thats what happened.

As Bristle worms get larger they can cause some damage – including eating an umbrella coral. I have seen this first hand – you will begin to see some holes in the coral and eventually large chucks just fad away. I have heard of bristles eating fish as well, and I share this with people when they ask of Bristles…..but this I have never witnessed first hand. Smaller Bristles are actually beneficial to our systems – my tank has them in it, but I have never seen one get to 10-12 inch when I think they become problematic. Glad you resolved your issue, sorry for the troubles tho.

The 50/50 thing for dwarf angles just doesnt seem true. There was a poll on this forum where over 80% maybe more of the people with them in reef tanks had no problems with them. Im not saying they are all safe, and to add them at your own risk, but I think they are more reef safe than most people think. The main key seems to be keeping them well fed.

Oh and I have a flame angle in my reef, and she has been great.

I will test your theory when my tank is mature enough for a clam & tell you my results. :) I would like to have a mixed reef, with my CB in there, & a clam or two. Best of luck to me? lol :) Maybe by October/November I will have results for you..well That is the plan.

It's definitely 50/50 if you add one whether it will eat corals and or clams.;D

I think sometimes people don't know they are eating their corals. Maybe a coral dies and they never knew it was the fish eating it. Mine wouldn't always pick at it. It took me a little while until I caught him in the act. Oh, and this morning Rusty was dead in my sump. Oh well, couldn't deal with prison life I guess LOL.
