Well my tank is finally ready for some corals and I am looking into getting some Zoas this weekend, but after reading all the posts here I have a few questions. :D

    1. Should I dip the frags, if so, what product should I be using to do this?

    2. Should I surround the Zoas with LR rubble so they have something to grow on?

    3. Do I have to keep the Zoa on the unsightly little frag it comes with?

    hi Chris

    just my 2 cents

never dipped a frag that looked healthy on purchase myself
yes place the Zoanthids next to other rocks so they can grow, multiply
frag plugs - with fast growing/ multiplying species like Zoas - very soon, you wont see the frag plug anyway so I leave mine

I dip every coral that comes into my tank in seachem reef dip and revive. I would at least do revive, it will help get rid of any flatworms or any other little hitchhikers that might be hanging out hidden somewhere that you might not want in your tank. I also go over the frag plug very carefully, with a magnifying glass if I have to, and use a dental pick/razor blade to scrape off anything foreign/alive looking unless I'm sure it's harmless.

Keeping pests out of my tank is #1 priority.

Steve covered the other questions. :)

Sound advice Steve and Screwtape, although screwtape may be a little over cautious, it never hurts. For peace of mind...dip.

I've never dipped and I've had no trouble, but thats not to say that I won't and shouldn't dip. Whenever someone is going into Zoas I feel obligated to encourage you to read about palytoxins online or on 3reef.
