    Lookin' good!

    That looks like a refugium. I can make out baffles on the left, a main 'fuge chamber in the middle and a skimmer on the right. I also see your filter bags. What's in 'em? How about some text to enlighten us all?

    Also, what purpose does the egg crate serve on top?

    one bag contains carbon--the other is phos zorb--the eggcrate is to keep other things from falling in(i have a dog and a child)

    Carbon and Phosphate reducing media are great. However, they work exponentially better in an active setting, rather than a passive one such as what you're employing. A phos reactor isn't an expensive item, and forces water through whatever media it holds. Mine holds phosphate media and activated carbon. So much more bang for the buck without spending many!

    Two Little Fishes makes one, and Kent makes one too. There are others as well.
