I bought a bit of live rock today, and looking at them in the store i didnt notice anything on them except a few bits of Coraline, but once i put them in the tank about a hour later i noticed these brown Anemones on them. I've heard talk of some bad hitchhiker Anemones and just curious if these are them. Also I have a sponge looking thing that appeared on one of my rocks i bought about 2 weeks ago for my other tank. its mostly grey and hairy looking, just curious what it is. Also i have what looks like some algae growth, but it just looks really smooth unlike the rest of the coraline algae growing on the rocks. is this normal or should i be worried about something?

I will attempt to attach some pics i took. though they arnt that great. i cant seem to get the clean crisp pictures that i've been seeing on here.

Little hard to see. but its the same color as the others, but wedged itself deep in a hole, but about 3 times the size of the others.

Sponges are cool...small anenomes are not...

They are either aptasia or majano --- you need to get rid of them quick before they overwhelm your tank from the getgo...

    Hot Tips: aptasia control
    (Advanced Aquarist)

    nuke them bad boys!

(I personally like Joe's Juice - but other methods work also)

Ok thanks guys. figured thats what it was. so you think 2 or 3 Pepermint shrimps would clean them off fairly well? or should i try something different?

Well. i've killed 6 of them so far. and in the process found this little bugger hiding. guessing a sponge, but this one actually has some color compaired to the other one. hehe.
