We finally started introducing critters to the tank, yay! We got 2 snails (I think astrea) and 2 blue leg hermit crabs and my favorite, Henry, the fighting conch.

While we were floating them the hermit started getting a little curious

Guess he thought he might want to move into the blue shell

But someone was already living there

The little blue shelled guy gave us a scare. We had to get a flash light to make sure there really was a crab inside, he hadn't come out at all since we left the LFS and all during floating. We were sure we had bought an empty shell lol It took him awhile after he was in the tank to finally come out

During the night he changed homes!

Here's Henry, the coolest conch ever!

We were thinking of getting a shrimp or 2 if these guys do well for a week or so. Are cleaner shrimp too big for a 14g? We aren't sure if we should get a cleaner or a peppermint. Are those shrimp ok with pistol shrimp? He's on our list of definites along with a watchman goby.

Most cleaner shrimp will eat fish food so either type of shrimp should be fine. The pistol will live in the substrate and make dens so make sure you support your rockwork well. The peppermint or cleaner will live in the rocks so they won't really interact with each other.

Henry is very cool! He may turn out to be a different species of conch, but either way, he should be a great aquarium resident.

    Congrat's,

Thanks guys! Its fun having something to watch. Don, is there a way to find out what kind of conch Henry is? Now I'm worried he won't be compatible with my fish or he'll get really big.

You're right, I just read that too. Not all of them do but it's a possibility...my fiance is going to be disappointed when I tell him no tiger pistol for us.
