Hey guys! I am very new to saltwater scene. I bought my tank used with refugium and everything and moved it about 500 miles... That was fun, let me tell you. I'm glad I have an engineer husband because he came up with a genius way to keep it safe on the truck ( if anyone is interested I will share that info .. And we have pics).

Anyways, I finally got my tank in order... I aqua scraped 100 pounds of dry rock and 10 pounds live... I think it looks pretty decent for my first time.

The tank has been running a month and a half and so far my black ocellaris and coral frags seem to be doing well.

I'm very excited and hope to continue the positive trend.

Thank you all for your advice! This would be a lot harder without 3reef!

Hec yeah! That is a very decent scape for your first attempt. Grats!

The only thing I'd change is the rock on the far right. It looks real close to the side of the tank. If you can't get a cleaner in there that panel will end up looking disgusting.

    Other than that iiiiiiiiiiit's GRRRREAT!

Thanks reefmonkey, it's stuff like that that I need to know! Do you think I should be worried about moving the rock and kicking up the sandbed at this point?

And yes... I did get an amazing deal on the set-up ! And thanks for the compliments!

So, how did you move the tank? Empty on pads I hope, or in a padded crate?

    Do tell

As for moving the tank.... My husband had a piece of plywood cut to fit between the wheelwells and the front of the bed and tailgate of our small Chevy S10. It was cut to fit tightly so it wouldn't slide and we put five sticks of foam pipe insulation underneath to act as a vibration dampener.

1inch x 1inch square wood stringers were screwed tightly around the base of the glass to the plywood do that the aquarium wouldn't slide.

It worked pretty well! Allowed room for base.. Refugium... Canopy.

I moved the rocks around today. My clowns really like the new arch.

I also ordered some snails from reef cleaners... Thought I ordered 100 dwarf Ceriths but I got 1,000! I hope I have enough for these little guys to eat.... I haven't had any crazy algae blooms or anything but it sounds like I should count myself lucky?
