    SUMP IS RUNNING!

Yeahhhhhh.... Covey's DIY PVC overflow is working flawlessly first try! and keeping up with magdrive 1800 gph pump even! Lots of microbubbles at this time from intitial starting and stopping to test how it would do in a power out situation just to be safe but other than that it is all working perfect.

BTW... the mag 18 is going to be feeding more than just this 55gallon I'm just seeing how much the 1.25 inch overflow would keep up with. It does have a loop back on the pump going to a higher level than my tank and back to the sump just to keep any backpressure on the pump at a minimum. Flow will be split with valves to other tanks in future.

    Pics coming soon I hope!

Greybeard, you're tanks are looking good. The only problem I see is the trouble you're going to run into when a customer wants to purchase a fish and you can't catch it because of all of the live rock. If possible, I would suggest plumbing together a few 30 gallon tanks with only 1-2 pieces of live rock and using a 55 gallon (or larger) for a sump and having it full of live rock. I'll send you a picture of something that I have built to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

The 55 in the picture is going to be mostly soft corals and LR... this tank and some smaller 10 to 30 gallon tanks with very little LR will be hooked to the 40 gallon sump/fuge so that catching isn't such a problem. I already ran into that triing to catch the last two clown fish I had in the 55 and said never again. LOL

At this time there is a kole tang (for sale), rock blennie (not for sale) and my favorite little scooter blennie (not for sale) in the 55, along with a million or so snails (many of those are moving to the fuge next week)

Great observation! and you're right as I learned the hard way :)

    Thanks for the input!
    Merry Christmas!

Yep... coralife 65 super needle wheel skimmer is still hanging on back of DT... going to move it to the sump very soon assuming it fits.

    (good eye!)

also... there is about 45 pounds of live rock in the fuge, cutting the LR in the DT down to about 45 pounds also. Kole tang is much happier with more swimming room today!

I'll try to post today's pick of DT here. (crossing fingers)

You'll see the pvc overflow and the hydow 3250gph powerhead... didn't polish glass before pic sorry :(
