So I'm sitting here and notice what I think is my sixline and tomato clown fighting. Which would be wierd cause they never do that. I walk over and they are going crazy trying to eat my peppermint shrimp (which I didnt even know was still alive because I havent seen him in 3 weeks) So I put some flake food in to distract the mob and pulled the shrimp out. He looks OK but is now missing the fan part of his tail and maybe a leg. He is pretty shocked but still walks around and stuff.

What do I do with him. If I put him back in the tank he just walks around and gets brutalized. Cant keep him in the red party cup! Should I just cut my losses and throw him back in for feed?

chances are he wouldnt live in the cup long, weird thing is neither of those fish are notorious for eating live inverts, maybe he was on the way out the door anyway

He's all the way out the door now. Only lived about 15 mins after the beating.

Oh well thats why it's and ecosystem, I will just have to make sure when I get some skunk cleaners that they are larger ones since I have murdurers in my tank.

    All fish are opportunistic eaters.

If not getting what they want or need, they will try something else.

Also appears they may instinct to pick on a weak or injured fish, not matter what it is or size.

Try feeding something different and try changing amount.

    Sorry for loss. :-[

Thanks for the advice Omard. I have cut back feeding due to a recent algae problem. Suppose they may have just been hungry.

No wrasse is truly reef safe. Im sure the wrasse went after the shrimp and the clown joined in. As for the Tomato, they are the 2nd most aggressive clown, Maroons being the most aggressive.
