My female peacock possibly might have ich. (I'm very good a seeing problems with fish she only has 1 or 2 small spots on her). I think she might be stressed by my blue zebra and johanni chasing her. I dont want to start treatment right away. I really do not want to do medication just yet because she is a peacock and they tend to have some questionable spots anyway (just in case if its not ich). I was thinking aqaurium salt and temperature might do the trick.

If I feed the peacock a very healthy diet over the next week and treat the tank with salt and temperature will she fight it off? and will the other fish catch it since they appear to be quite strong right now? Did I catch it early enough to help her?

I have had 3 bouts of ich over the past month:-X. Technically it was 2 bouts since i brought back the the fish that had it (they brought it home). And any other advice you guys can give to treat would be excellent.

I would nix the salt~it's actually an old myth that it has any medicinal services. Best this for FW ICH is to raise the temp as you stated. Speaking from 35yrs of FW keeping :)

Your welcome :) I should be more specific as to raising the temp. No higher then 85 and slowly.

Even if I do get rid of the ich problem, I'm not getting rid of the base of the problem. Any thoughts on how to reduce aggression and stress so she doesnt accelerate through the ich process.

From my understanding of ICH, healthy fish will be able to fight it off themselves. Like you said, a good healthy diet should really help. I have never had a problem with ICH in my fresh water tanks, knock on wood. I run an UV sterilizer on my saltwater tank thought to help out with the possibility of ICH.

It is a way to go I guess. From what I have read, there is no science stating that garlic will help a fish fight off ICH. What garlic will do is help a fish to eat. Garlic can help a fish that isn't really eating by (for lack of better words) increasing its appetite.

I started this thread about garlic. It may answer some of your questions.

My step son's tang had ich and I started feeding it the same thing I do mine. It's called garlic guard. I mixed it with mysis shrimp. The ich was gone in a few days. In your case. I would soak a piece of shrimp in it to feed to your peacock.

The picture is of what the tang looked like before I started giving it the garlic guard. I thought I had an after picture.
