I just added the rock (dry rock from BRS "pukani") and saltwater from the LFS and added heat and flow, all yesterday.

Today the temp is 78 and the tank smells so bad, like terrible, nasty rotten eggs. My LFS owner said its because of the rock and ill need to do massive water changes to ever hope to remove the smell.

    Input? Advice?

I have no test kit yet because all the lfs are sold out :(

This is a new tank and not established?
You really shouldn't be doing water changes yet. Shouldn't really be a smell either. I would be worrying about the water. I have done plenty of base rock, even from BRS, and it should not have any smell to it.
What did you do for substrate?

New tank, un-established, freshly made ro/di saltwater, new dry pukani from brs, and the substrate is aragonite? im worried because I was told to clean it so I cleaned it out in fresh water and then it kinda sat and dried for a week, im worried it might of built up some funk now.

Was it live sand or dry?

Dry, its not sand its just a substrate mix. The lfs owner had 3 kinds of substrate From like crushed coral, to what i got, to fine sand.

    No.

He mad fresh ro/di saltwater mix in a huge mixing container, The aragonite was still in a bag, dry, and the rock came in a bag, in a box, dry from BRS.

Sounds to me like something nasty somewhere... any chemicals used in cleaning rock, tank, etc. before hand?

But (though I doubt this is it), I find my tank stinks nasty. But I also hate the smell of the beach and saltwater in general. My wife thinks it smells like the ocean though. I rarely get in the water when I do go to the beach because of the smell of it. Yuk :-X
