Well my wife threw a fit when I forked out the money for a automatic generator but I got a thank you come monday night when we had been about 28 hrs without power and she could give the kids a warm bath. I have never been so thankful that I finally made the purchase of a generator as everything in my tank would be dead today.
Power was off from Sunday at 12:57 until monday night due to the after math of IKE when he went through Indiana. What a mess around here as this is wednesday and we just now got Internet back up at our house.

    Best money I ever spent!!!

That is great to hear. Now I have to convince the parents to get some sort of generator.

I put mine in at my House in Va back in 2000 when we where slammed with several back to back hurricanes and Tornado's we had 5 Tornado's in 2 days with in few blocks of my home.. Best 2,100.00 I ever spent . Cause that winter where slammed with ice storms from hell 4 and 5 inches at a time.. Shoot we got slammed all the time by a Hurricane just a part of the job .

I was worried about it running so long but it has a over temp and low oil shut off so I just let it keep going. Plus it is still under warranty so let it blow I'll just get a new one :)

I meant to call you on Monday and ask how things went, I figured you were without power for a while! Ogle and myself were without for only 4 hours, perk of being in the city if there is one!! What all throughout the house & tank do you have hooked to it? Glad to hear it aced it's first test!!

Otty does your have the weekly start up and test run ? Mine does once a week it starts to charge the battery and check its self over and if it needs servicing it will alert you . I sent one to a buddy in Fla also his does the same thing But he got his in 04 I think maybe 05 ? but terry said its the best 2 bills he ever spent . His son is a plumber and he piped it up and I walked him through the roll over switch and wiring . I though about one here but storms seem to never be a problem I have a gasloine Honda and Kohler I think I'm getting my son to haul up in Nov. and I'll convert that to Nat gas and a quick connect fitting on the main gas line..

I have a portable 5.5kw for the important stuff at my house but a whole house generator is on the slate for when we build a new place in the next year or two for sure. I'm going to have an electrician come quote me to install the panel on my current place to let the 5.5kw hook into the house's wiring

Pretty much everything. It has a 100 amp switch gear and AC, waterheater, fish tank, kids play room......etc.

Yep I have it come on and cycle for 12 minutes once a week. It has a trickle charger in the switch gear that keeps the battery charged. With it running it keeps the seals and bearings lubed. Mine alerts me after 220 hr of operation for oil change.
Real nice unit, I would recommend it to anyone.

Thats good to hear! I would be really depressed if I had a tank like yours and everything died. I think generators are a must in locations that are prone to hurricanes. By the way aren't you in the north? How did the hurricane get up there? I have not been following it so I dont know much.
