It looks ok ;D I did the same thing with two seperate rubbermaid containers a few years back. FYI most fish do not accept lights 24/7 even in cycles, and a seahorse will no like it 24/7. JMHO-grow lots of macro!!Good luck with your design

I would have to second the opinion that the animals will not be happy with 24/7 lighting... :-/

Also, if you seal the top with acrylic (like in your second pic) you will prevent evaporation, but also will prevent cooling and oxygenation of the water ;)

I also like the newer plan better, it looks nice...JMO....I know when I designed mine, the general opinion was to skim water before the fuge...but I don't see how that would work with your plan. I don't know if that creates a problem or not...just thinking out loud here..... ::)

I'mmm not sure........I forget if it was soley for the purpose of diminishing the bubbles from the output of the skimmer from entering the tank or if there were some other reason as well....

If the bubbles have to travel the length of the tank and through baffles, then less bubbles would get back into the main tank.

    Anyone???.....

okay ya that would make sense i can always move the skimmer to the other end of the sump and put in a few baffles as well as a another foam section to reduce bubbles

The skimmer will also catch pods that could be entering the aquarium if it is after the skimmer. Which of course is not good. So definitely put your skimmer before the fuge.
