i have ten gallon that i will be setting up for a mantis shrimp tank.
it will have a lot of macro algae to help with help with the nitrates
it will also have 3 mangroves
i dont want to have ot worry about filter cartridges so im gonna use just a filter that is perfect for a refugium!
i will be using non-live sand and hopefully base rock if i can find some at my lfs that is reasonable size.
i will cycle with a silverside.

any other ideas from anyone? specifically people with mantis tanks (everyone is welcome to if they have an idea!)

Will be interesting.. not heard of putting mangroves in the dt for a mantis.
I have seen people use HOB filter emptied out as a fuge for cheato and groves though.

its not he biggest HOB filter but it will work for chaeto.

Depends on the species. For a 10 gallon with size appropriate mantis small pipe is good. 1/2" - 1" is plenty.

Mangroves would be awesome inside a mantis tank. N. Wennerae would love having some mangroves as that is one of the habitats they call home in the wild.
