Just thought I'd share my woes.....my boys are home from college and they both are going back a week early...they can't wait to get away from me I guess :(....I have tried to hard not to nag and be generous...anyone else out there with late teens/early 20's kids?

I'm thinking this is a good thing because the oldest wants to get back so he can focus on job hunting and the youngest is a little shy and slowly venturing out....it's just hard, it's like when Santa didn't come anymore.....this parenting gig is tough :)

Im a 23 year old and did that when I was in college. It had nothing to do with not wanting to spend time with my parents or family. It was that I got bored because my life is here now. Everything I owned, my job, new friends.

Now I bought a house over here so I still dont stick around for crazy amounts of time.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Toughest job in the world.

Words can not describe the worry and concern most parents have for their children, nor can words describe how clueless 20 year olds can be.

Hang in there is all I can say because I sure do not have any answers on this topic.

I have to say I agree. When I joined the army, I really didn't feel at home, at home. My life was on the installation. It's just like when you go visit someone. It's fun to go but much more fun to get back home. I promise it is nothing to do with you.

I may use this one in the future, lol!

I have a 25, 22 and a 15 year old. All boys. The oldest is just starting to realize how much he doesn't know. Just. A few years ago I told my parents how much I appreciate everything they've done for me. They knew it, but I realized that I never actually said it. The 22 year old filled his tank with water and I'm taking live rock over to his house tomorrow. There's hope for these kids yet. Maybe I'll get a call in 22 years or so, lol.

Another perspective. I'm 24 years old and spent my college years at home. I was the same way for a time period. I've grown out of it and now I actually enjoy spending a little time with my folks, despite our completely opposite interests. Find something you are both interested (hobby) and make an effort to do it. Give them their space, they'll come to you; I promise. It's just a phase.

I agree with the others. from about 16-23 I wanted nothing to do with my folks, but i grew out of that phase and really enjoy spending time with them. Life it one of those things that teaches us not to take for granted what we have, hopefully not too many people have to learn it the hard way.
