No other hair algae in my tank except for the 3-4"'s of it coming out of my koralia nano. I've cleaned it a couple time but it keeps coming back. I've not broken it apart because I can't seem to figure out how/if it does and I dont want to break it. Will a nice long vinegar soak kill the stuff?

    TIA

haha. We meed a picture of this.

To take the pump apart...you have to squeeze around the perimeter of the middle of the pump....the front half of the frame (not sure what the exact name for it is) come off and you can take out the impeller.

I squeeze the cage with my thumb on the top (where it's solid) and my index finger in the bottom part of it. It's kinda tricky. Basically just put you fingers opposite of where mine are on the front cage...you have to pull it.

soak the powerhead in white distilled vinegar and use new clean toothbrush to scrub it.

I pull mine out and soak them for about 4 hours, then scrub them with a toothbrush and fresh RO/DI. They will look great for about 3 weeks, and then it starts all over again. When it does, you can try setting a turbo snail on the pump as well.

Glad I could bring some laughter to you all. It was a training night (got a fight coming up in Sept) and it lights out for the nano. I'll try to snap a pic in the morning.
