I have 4X65W power compacts and 4X Actinic retrofit lighting in my 55 gal. tank. I was wanting to know what would the lighting in my tank be considered......low, moderate, or high (not likely). The reason I am asking is when looking up some corals I may want or want to know about they mostly state the requirements of the coral. In other words....I am tring to get a reference for my tank to know what would and would not work in it.....thanks to all in advance!

Well all we know is you have 260W of lighting, but how many watts are the actinic bulbs? Or are those part of the power compacts, and not separate? If all you have is 260W, that gives you a little less then 5WPG. That would be able to keep plenty of soft corals, polyps, mushrooms, but no SPS. Those guys require a lot of light, like metal halides. I would say your light is low (high-low) to moderate. 8)

The Actinic are seperate but I can't remember how many watts they are. They are the Coral Life retro fit lite system with 4X65W daylights......that's all I can say for now.

So you have 4 65W PCs and 4 Actinics? Well thats not a bad setup at all, depending, like I said, on the wattage of the actinics.:tongue4:

No, I don't have the 96W they are the 65W. I finally found the wattage of the Actinics without going home....they are 65W for a total of 260W (daylight and actinics).....is this still on the moderate side. I am thinking and looking to be on the moderate side.
