My 8" lunare wrasse has a sunken stomach and is lethargic. The only addition to the tank in the last few weeks has been a hermit crab. I see no other fish that has any symtpoms.

Does anyone have an idea of what may be wrong and what I should do? Trying to take him out of the tank would be a MAJOR taks as he is hidden below hundreds of pounds of rock.

    Thanks

Is he hungry? You could always try garlic soaked food to entice him to eat. No matter what's wrong with him, eating is always a good thing.

How long have you had him? Because he was new, I was advised after getting my wrasse, that they are prone to have parasites and to treat with Prazipro. If you have had him awhile, that probably won't apply.

+1 for trying to get him to eat.

Soak some live brine shrimp in selcon or zoecon for 24 hours. Then try dopping them in the tank. The stong smell of fat will draw any fish out to eat. My puffer fish did not eat for 3 weeks. He stomach was all sunken in. Then one day i tried some krill saoked in zoecon. He eats like a pig now.

Try doing a water change. Check your salinity and all the levels. Add some activated carbon if you havent done it already.

You can try all these thing. What is your pH and temperature.

Karma for each of you. Thanks for your input. I have made a 25 gallon water change and tried waving garlic soaked food in front of him. No luck. The aquarium stats as measured by my API test kit are: Salinity - 1.024, Nitrate - 10, Nitrite - 0, Amonia - 0 and PH 7.8. I have added some PH+ to raise the PH, but I really don't think a 7.8 PH in a FOWLR tank is that significant. The temperature has been fluctuating between 78 and 81; a little warm, but we have been having a really hot spell here in Southern California. I do have a chiller which I could rehook up if you think it might be necessary, but it is really loud. The most interesting statistic to me was the Nitrate. It has been running between 60-80 since I bought the trigger. You know triggers, eat and poop, that is all they do. All of sudden, now it is down to approx. 10. Could there be any connection with the wrasse? Anyway, the wrasse is still hiding in the rocks and not coming up for meals. I did order from the LFS, the Prazipro you mentioned. Thanks again for all your input.
