My maxima just up and died

    That clam did not just up and die Clams can take months to a yr plus to die from lack of something ? the lighting change did not cause the problem maybe prymide snails or some parameter was lacking ? like strontium or anyone of the others .. How large was it ? now and when you got it .. Did it seem grow much ?

    I would say that at the time of death he was 3-3.5". He got about a 1/3 bigger in the 8 months I had him. Not sure how much growth, but he did grow in the time in my tank.

    He may not have been dying fast but it sure took a turn for the worse in no time at all.

    i would say parasitic snails. I have seen them take over clams that fast. One day they are healthy and the next they are a strugglin

    You would have seen the snails on the bottom of the clam. You should always check for snails and remove them before putting a clam into the tank
