If it's new, I've heard it takes a few days to "break in."

It will make some noise as it's external. Shouldn't be too bad though. When I first got mine, I had my sump upstairs and couldn't hear it over the sump and equipment. Once I moved the sump to the basement I now can hear it. However, it is still a fairly low hum. There was a bit where when it was reving down, it would start to vibrate more. It just took some fine tuning in the alignment to get rid if it. However, as others have said there is a breakin period, but fiddling with the alignment may help more too. Also, check the casing on the wetside to make sure it's on tight.

I had to replace my dry side due to excess noise. You should call and talk to em. Mine was less than 30 days old and the magnets were causing a very loud grind, this walking the magnets down the glass and causing wet side noise also. Customer service was awesome though and quickly helped find a solution. Sounds like you may have a similar problem.

Is this noise in every mode? I notice a 'whir' in nutrient export mode that I have whined about before.
