Bought a beautiful 7 inch Naso about a month ago. As soon as I put it in the tank my yellow tang started beating up on it, which it does to all new fish regardless of their size. This lead the Naso to freeze up, get white spots all over it and appear to stop breathing; thought it was dying the night I got it. A few minutes later it was fine, swimming and the white spots disappeared. I checked the forum and find that some tend to do this when threatened, which made me feel better. Now every time I put my hand in the tank he pulls the same stuff. Is this just part of it getting acclimated to the tank or can I expect this nonsense indefinitely? My next water change should be interesting...

Its been my experience with several tangs that they all tend to get overly stressed when a hand is in the tank. Every time i rearrange my 40 gallon my powder brown usually lies on his side for hours afterwards. He'll probably by fine. He's just being a baby, like all tangs.

if hes still alive he will be ok, hes a older naso not used to your tank. give him time and plenty of nori(naso's need a lot of nori to be happy)

I'm still pretty new at this hobby, but none of my other fish ever did this, including a previous Naso. The best is when he is in this comatosed state my yellow tang comes over and starts beating on him. Thanks for the advice
