yeah... love that wrasse and was going to get it anyway. Just have three fish (Chromi, 2 B &W clowns and a yellow tang) in there. Plus a few corals. So, I think in about a month I can add another fish! Thanks for the advice :)

How close to the surface are the zoas? Mine seem to require to be near the top to fully open.

I placed them pretty much on top. My tank is very tall but they definitely should get enough light. Yesterday a few of them opened, so I am hopeful that the other heads will follow. I will post some pics in my thread later on today.... maybe you can tell me then whether you think they are placed high enough...
    Appreciate your comment!!!

Some new pics of my developing tank

Today I added a coral beauty... not so sure about him yet .... and my yellow tang is being VERY territorial... chasing him all day long, poor fishie...
Other than that my zoas are opening slowly and just added another coral.. see pics below and let me know what you think. Next week I will get the base rock to build another column behind the hammer coral... ;D

Ì am frustrated about my multicolor zoas... they looked great at my lfs buy now don't seem still not open.... I placed them towards the top and only a few heads openened... any experience with that....
    Any comments are appreciated!!!
My water parameters are next to perfect and all other corals openend and fish are doing great. So, it cannot be due to that.

I believe I may be having the same problem as you right now.
I just got back into town and noticed right away that my zoas were not open. After a lot of thought I think it may be because of a combination of kalkwasser and some 2 part dosing I have started recently that has caused my pH to rise a bit above 8.4. (it was the only thing from my water tests yesterday that stood out)

I removed my kalk from my kalk reactor and plan on doing a water change today.

Just a theory, but what is your pH out of curiosity?

Thanks for responding... my PH is at 8.2 right now and all other parameters are in perfect range. When I purchased the zoas I also got some green zoas and other corals which are all doing great. So, I wonder whether there is something wrong with them?
A few heads have opened but I am still waiting for the multicolor ones!
My tank is now about 8 months old and I am planning on adding some more corals and one fish in about 4 weeks. This hobby just takes time and that's the best advice. Most of us (including me made the mistake at the beginning to add too much lifestock too soon). So, I will remain patient and who knows... it just might take time for this one.
Keep in touch... would love to hear how your zoas are doing :)

Thinking about getting lyretail, dispar or bartletts... which are more hardy in your opinion? I thought, I'd wait a bit and add a Mc Cosker Wrasse first. But not sure.
    What so you think?

Matt, I am always using RO water and like I said all my parameters are perfect, so let me know when you find a solution. I already placed them hight in the tank, so I don't think that's the problem....
