    Tank overheated!!!

My tank overheated!!!!! My lfs guy here in Spain programmed my aquatronica controller incorrecly. As a result, the temp went up to over 86 Fahrenheit.... the lights were on all night and he programmed the heater incorrectly. I am sooooooo upset :-[ and he didn't even want to take the responsability. My zoas that were placed towards the top of the tank are DEAD!!!!! Of course, I was freakin' and he had the audacity to blame me for everything. Just to explain...
he came here to re-programm my aquatronica controller after a power outage... and he assigned plugs to the wrong controller unit. In addition, the lights stayed on all night (just 'cause he was incapable to put the european time 20:00 instead of 8:00).... so my tank overheated.
I tried to contact him as of 7am but he only got back to me at 7:30pm, saying that I am disrespecting him with blaming him for this mess....
OOOoaahhhh.... I am FRUSTRATED!!!!!! Lost my muliticolored zoas and looked for another lfs today. We shall see... I am just grateful that my fish survived this! Pumps are also not working :-[

    Tank overheated

I am soooo upset with my lfs guy who came by two days ago to adjust the aquatronica controller... he programmed everything WRONG!!! So, the lights stayed on for almost 23 hours and the heater went craysy, leading to my zoas to die and the other corals to close completetly. Since I was desperate, I wrote him a few mails... always with NO response... only to get an email in the evening telling me that I am being disrespectuful.... REDICULOUS!!!! I pay this guy to come out here and then he gives me sh... just because I was afraid to loose everything!!!! I checked out another lfs today and think I am going to use his services from now on. Just really difficult to find capable people over here....
My multicolored zoas are dead ('cause they were placed in the upper part of the tank) and I returned them today. I paid 67 Euros for them and am NOT willing to take any excuses.... this guy didn't even assign the right plugs to the controller... and then blames ME for his mistakes!!!
As you can imagine I am VERY upset.... after waiting for 2 months for the delivery of the tank and now this!!!! What a nightmare!!!! :-[
    Hope my fish will survive!

I admit, it's my fault too but if you hire a professional to program the controller, I think I have every right to complain!!! Like I said even with the delivery, he promised me 4 weeks which turned into over 8 weeks.... I am a VERY patient person but this is just too much!!!! So, just as a sidenote... if you ever move to Spain, do your research and be PATIENT!!

    Tank overheated

Thanks so much for caring, Kacy! I was soooo upset and returned the dead zoas yesterday.... but this idiot still won't admit that this mess was due to HIS mistake. So, I looked at another lfs in Palma and the guy has been in business for over 29 years, so I think he should be the right one. I mean, I already spent thousands on this tank and THEN this guy has the audacity to say to me that if I "disrespect" him, he won't tolerate that... how rediculus is that. Maybe he is not used to be critized but I have always been super nice to him. I guess he is not used to strong women like me who speak their mind.
But all is ok now, I hope the fish will survive this and the corals will recover.
Since I had to turn off the heater last night...the temperature is now at 24.4 degress celcius. '
    I wil keep ya' posted...;)

Thanks guys... yeah... it's been a NIGHTMARE and all due to my lfs guy programming my controller not correctly. I fixed it and now all is ok. Except for the zoas (multicolored) which cost me over 75 Euros... I took them back to the store but decided to use a different lfs in the main city here. They don't have a selection of fish or corals in stock but can order just about anything. So, after 2 days of freakin' out, it's all stable again... and all fish and the other corals survived :)
Thanks for caring, I appreciate it!!!

I learn through experience too unfortunately sometimes.

I recently changed bulbs and the new one caused UV burn - I lost a few frags under the spot. The others have rebounded now thankfully and my tank is doing well - boy did I learn a lesson!

That sucks to hear, but at least your able to move on now. You would at least think the guy would work with you on the heating issue.
