Yes, more snails! :) Glad the algae is getting better and the coraline is starting to spread. YAY for maturing tanks!

What's wrong with my hammer corals?

My hammer corals were always doing great, however now one of them seems to be dying while all other fish and corals in the tank are doing great.
Any ideas why this is happening?
    Water params still perfect.
    Pics before and now....

Do you feed it? Also, what kind of flow is it in, and do you see its sweeper tentacles at night?

My hammer is the first to shrivel up and tell me when I need a water change, maybe you need a water change?

i just picked up a hammer head for my first coral to add to the tank. the guy at the LFS told me that i shouldnt put mine on the substrate because they dont like to be bothered by detritus or waste thats getting kicked around the floor of the tank. perhaps yours is just irritated by something as i see its low near the substrate? i dunno much about them. im actually researching them more. so far mines doing fine. i have it midway up the rock work in a medium flow area and i target feed it brine

    water params all in checK?

Thanks guys for your concern..... I think it's dead by now. Strangely enough the other one ... I purchased at the same time and same size .... is doing fine. I will do a water change asap. But the tap water here sucks and my RO unit is not producing enough to do a 20% water change, so I had to ask my lfs guy to come out and bring the water.... for now just cleaning the skimmer every other day and noticed that my nitrates are up a bit.
So, a sad day for me but thank God my fish and other corals are doing fine.
    Again, thanks for responding!

I am really bummed out!! I ordered a bunch of stuff from my lfs such as a shiphoner and never got it... how it the h... am I supposed to maintain the tank without such equipment? Wish I would still live in LA where everything was so readily available. Here, it takes FOREVER and I am NOT a happy camper right now!!

im not sure what kind of 'stores' are available there but if you have a hardware store nearby you dont need a siphon tool. you can just go build one.

i made one once out of some 1/2" tubing, 1" pvc cap (drilled a hole in it for the tube), put a 1" pipe about 6" long on the end of the cap with a piece of mesh or screen on the end.

i used it for gravel cleaning hence the bigger 1" piping so that water wouldnt siphon so fast out of the chamber and let the gravel tumble back down. you can prolly get away with just a hose for siphoning....

as for the RO unit - do you have a 25-30gal rubbermade (or equivelent) to hold the water it produces? even if it takes 3 days to make your 30gal of water you should be able to get it made. if not id recommend this as a possible solution to your issue. i personally have a 37gal rubbermade with a hole drilled in it, a bulkhead, and some pvc fittings with a valve so i can empty the container into smaller jugs to carry to the tank. i actually pre-mix my salt in this same container as well with a MJ1200 pump and heater.

i dunno, food for thought.... wish things were easier for you to get ahold of there, but hey maybe that makes it more fun? i mean you wind up doing more DIY stuff right? :p
