Just did a water change but my ph is still too low. I am freakin out!! The lfs guy came by and measured all paramters and he said the only problen I]m was my ph. But again didn't do anything about the controller. I ordered the moonlights about almost a year ag0 and am still waiting for the ethernet module...... now most of my fish and corals are DEAD and you can imagine how upset I am..... loosing 8 corals and 2 fish!!!! I am sooooo pissed and and depend on this guy. There are simply no other options here o

Were you there when he measured all parameters? Did he give you actual test results? I'm starting to think that you can't take this guy's word for anything so I would test everything myself if I was you.

for sure, ditch the guy and try to get whatever money you can back on this obviously useless controller. id stop being reliant on him, and test it myself. what is the actual PH reading? do you have ample water surface agitation for gas exchange?

im also curious if the water that was used for the water change was tested beforehand?

Thanks for asking... my PH reads 7.14 today. So, I asked the guy to come by on Monday and do a full maintenance on the tank ... for FREE of course!! The fish are doing fine, are eating but my hammer coral is not doing well and I am wondering whether I should take it out. Don't want to risk an ammonia spike if it releases anything. What do you think?

    PH too low

Here are some pics of my tank in its current condition...
Sorry for the bad quality of the pics... my camera is broken. But as you can see the ricordia are doing pretty well, the blue mushroom not so good and the brain coral seems "swollen"...

do you have reagent based test kits to confirm the low PH? also, im not positive, but i believe corals will never cause a ammonia spike. if anything they'll release toxins that carbon filtration will remove.

just curious, to date you've only had testing done by the LFS employee and the controller? if so then there is something that you should look into keeping on hand even down the road. if the controller gets fixed, calibrated, or whatever it is that needs to be done to make it functional, you're still going to have to know when the PH probe is starting to 'fail'.

in my research on controllers for my own setup its a known yearly maintenance issue on PH probes. they apparently go bad, and often if they're not lab grade. this is no fact of mine as i have not personally owned them yet, but this is the general consensus i gather from the information ive read.

so keeping a PH kit on hand to do one periodically would be my recommendation. along with a NO2, NO3, Ca, Mg test kit.
