I got the call tonight that I'm going to get an offer. The big question is whether it will make financial sense to move or not.

I had it shipped. That price is great for a 240g.

Now it looks like a 95% probability that I will be moving. I got an offer and now we're in the negotiation phase. I doubt it will fall through, but you never know.

95% turned to 100%. I accepted the position today in San Francisco. There will be a 90 day transition period for me to figure out how to move the tank.

    Congrats man! San Fran... Wow!

Is it the shear size of the tank/stand you are concerned about? Because from what I'm gathering there isn't much livestock in it yet. No? Moving the rock could be a simple purchase of two 55 gallon Brute trashcans. Then you've got some killer trashcans to either keep as salt water safe or to use as their intended purpose. Leave the physical tank to the movers man. I assume with this type of job move you'd have moving expenses paid or at least fully deductible? If they damage it its their dollar to repair/replace.

Would you say there is a downside to using the concrete on the actual tank bottom itself? Besides the obvious... "Its like that forever" scenario. Is it a reasonable fear that the concrete being actually adhered to the glass could cause failure of the seam? I'd like to do a sand bottom but want to make the outer two inches of my new tank fairly solid with just a dusting of loose sand over top so I don't have the constant issues with catching sand in the magnet or stirring up sand while magnet cleaning. Also, I cant seem to find where you mention which type of concrete you actually used.

Haha there is A LOT of LR in there. I beleive he made in insert, using plywood, adhering the concrete to that. The weight might be a bit less. Depending on how deep of a SB he would have used, had he gone with a real SB.

The concrete is actually attached to a plastic plate and is removable. I'm not going to move it, but rather break it off the plastic and redo it on the other side.

    Answers for Broaner:

Unluckily the offer happened so soon after setting it up. The timing could have been better. Fortunately there is no coral in the tank, only fish.

Unfortunately I'm moving from Florida and I don't plan on driving to San Fran :) I'm going to have to ship the rock separately and I'm very worried about damage.

The problem is that many/most movers will not move aquariums for just that reason. I'm going to have to have a separate mover box up and move it at a hefty price.

The concrete is adhered to a 3/8" PVC plate and is completely removable. The problem is that it won't likely survive a move intact either so I will probably break it off and redo on the other side. Not a big deal to do so. It only takes about a half hour to do and is relatively easy.

That's one of the reasons why I went bare bottom on this tank. I've got an idea on how you could do what you want, but it wouldn't be easy and may not look the best. You could try it and if it doesn't look good discard it. It would cost a little $$, but nothing permanent so if it doesn't work you're just out time and some cash. Let me know if you're interested in trying and I can post my idea.

It is Emaco GP mixed with a 1:1 water/Acryl 60 solution. The Acryl 60 almost rubberizes the cement. Pretty cool.
